Galveston O’Connell Athletic Dire Needs Fund

Friends, Friends of Friends, and All Those who might Help, I am writing you to plead for some assistance for our Christian-based Athletic Department.

This year as some of you may know, our football team has literally doubled in size from years past. Although we are very excited about this, it has literally doubled the expenses we have incurred this year, depleting the balance of our Athletic Fund. Little things like feeding the kids a pre-game meal has ballooned from a little over $100 to almost $300, we have had to order more uniforms and helmets costing us thousands dollars in unplanned expenses, and the cost of transporting the kids has been greater as well. Obviously, this is a great opportunity/problem to have. We are trying to increase enrollment and one of the best ways to do so is channeled through interest and expanse in athletics. However we simply were not prepared for this type of rapid growth we are experiencing.

I am writing to solicit any donations any parent, friend, family member, alumni, or one who might like to consider a Donation. We have done away with the sports fees this year to make sports more accessible to all students. We have been frantically raising money and will continue to do so locally. However, we would greatly appreciate any financial donation that any person could contribute. Obviously football is typically our greatest expense and although it is almost over we have made the playoffs and after a first round home game, should we win, we will be forced to go to San Antonio for our second round game. Realistically, that trip will cost about 2000$. We do not want to take away from the athletic fund that also supports our other sports such as girls and boys volleyball, basketball, softball, and baseball. Any help that any person can give from $10.00 and up will be greatly appreciated.. Thank you all for all of your support and please come out and watch our first playoff game agains KIPP Northeast on Friday, November 11th at 7:00 at Kermit Courville Stadium.
