On occasions we are faced with situations that hit very close to home. Some people are given no choice. Their living conditions don't permit being able to work even if they want to, because of chronic illness and old age. They have fought their whole lives, tooth and nail, but still met the day where they have to choose between madicine or food. The cycle only gets worse from year to year as prices go up, and they only get older and sicker with little hope that things will change for the better. Every Holiday season I am heartbroken. For some of us it´s time for joy, happiness, presents. Time to show our loved ones we care, and we celebrate this wonderful season focusing on getting presents for our loved ones: sweaters, IPADs, gift cards, thousands of $$$ to make them feel special. And I am no different. We all love giving and getting presents but but my heart is heavy. In my mind I think this money was spent on me while our loving elders, the same people that raised us, loved us, fought for OUR better future are now fighting to survive in their old age, FOOD or MEDICINE?  This is the story of 2 wonderful woomen, who have lived through two major wars during their lives, including WWII. They only mistake to had been born in a country detroyed by war, which left them hopeless. They loved and cared after teir family, and numerous times took out of their own mouths, to save a few dollars so when their grandchildren would come from overseas they could give them some money to spend on what they wished. Later, I found out that they pensions are a mere $90 per month plus some basic food, in a country where prices often surpass those in the USA and the medications that they have to take are often more than that and health insurance inexistent. And my heart is heavy. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
What if I told you that these two wonderful women were my Grandmothers???My family has been helping as much as they can with sending money mainly to be able to buy food and medicine as this problem is becoming increasingly common worldwide.  Our loving elders trapped in a dilemma of food, medicine, survival. Well the season of joy, generosity and love is shortly approaching and I have decided to create this fund, where my family members and friends that want to make me feel special, instead donate to this fund and all the proceeds will be divided equaly between these two wonderful people, so our hearts will feel a little less heavy and theirs a little lighter this year. I plan on doing this every year from now on so if you think of buying me something for my birthday or Christmas please remember that I have more than enough: wonderful family, friends, health, career.....but a heart that's heavy!!!!

Thank you all and Happy Holidays!!!
