On 30/04/2019, Lilian, a cousin of mine and I set out to her sisters funeral meeting.
We got there okay, took part in the meeting and left after about 4hrs after it was agreed on when the sister's body was to be transported from Nairobi to their hometown for burial.
Lilian was not to travel for the funeral as she was already 9 months pregnant and due at any moment.
Actually, on that day we noticed that her body was pale and her feet were really swollen.
Later that night, I received a call from my cousin, her name is violet telling me that Lilian was in labor and had been taken to a nearby hospital.
Hours later news came in that she had successfully delivered a healthy baby boy but her condition was not good.
She stayed in the hospital for three days, that was until 2/05/2019 when she was discharged from hospital.
She wasn't okay as her blood pressure was very low and her body still swollen and pale.
But the doctor discharged her anyway as we were not able to foot the hospital bill.
She was discharged at around 11am.
At about 4 in the evening, she started having difficulties breathing. My cousin rushed to the pharmacy to buy a few drugs that the doctor had prescribed upon discharge and gave her. We monitored her up until 6 pm when her condition got worse and we had to rush her to the hospital again where she was pronounced dead minutes after arrival.
Now, Lilian's death has hit us hard, we're still trying to comprehend the ordeal.
Her husband who is my brother is also having a hard time coming to terms with the death, lets not talk about the kids because they're not even aware. They still think that she's coming back and keep asking us when she will.
Lilian has 3 children ages 6 and 4 years, and the days old newborn she has left behind.
She was a really good mum. Even up to to the last days of her pregnancy she had to work, washing clothes for people just to provide for her family.
Lilian was also a very God fearing woman. Man, she loved God and the church so much. This actually the one thing that she really challenged me with, her devotion to her spirituality was beyond admiration.
We miss and will miss you dearly 'Nyar Ugenya'
In all this, we really need your help to properly say goodbye to our loved one.
As we're facing the burden of funeral costs and providing for the children.
Her husband is unemployed and our family is a very humble one.
Whatever donation you can give, it will go along way and will be highly appreciated.
N/B we are hoping to transport the body for burial by 16th May 2019.
I and 2 other family members will be in charge of the final expenses.
Thank you.
