First of all thank you for taking time to help me out. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for 13 years I was forced to take an Honorable Discharge and leave before being eligible for retirement in 2012. This came after almost losing my life in an Improvised Explosive Device explosion in Karma, Iraq in 2007. I was lucky enough to get a job as a Firearms Instructor almost a year after my discharge. But this caused me to have to leave my family and go back to Iraq. After deploying to Iraq for 2 years, on one of my trips back over there I contracted a 'germ' and the medical team in Iraq could not figure out what was wrong with me. I had a rash all over my body and it would come and go. It got to the point where no medicine would work and my lips started to swell like Will Smith in Hitch. Thinking I was having an allergic reaction to something, I was sent home to Florida to determine what was wrong and return to work. 30 seconds with a Allergy Specialist and I was diagnosed, medicated and cleared for duty. I was happy to be able to return to work. I was on worker's compensation when I came home and wasn't worried about income because of that and was just waiting to re-deploy after spending some time with my family. (I was deployed for 3 months & during that whole time was breaking out in hives) The worker's comp company decided I was not eligible for compensation because it wasnt an injury but something unexplainable that was caught while traveling for my company. So no compensation, I was a little okay with that until 3 months later my Medical Director for my company finally got back to me with a verdict on re-deploying. According to him I was not eligible to return to work and was to be terminated immediately. I asked if I could get some other local doctors in the U.S. to view my medical record and see me and get other opinions. I was told that since he is a medical director he knows more than all doctors even specialists. Even the one that told me what was wrong and was able to treat me when he couldn't. When he couldn't in 3 months, one doctor did in 30 seconds. But he is the all knowing. So now I am seeking retribution from 2 different places. Since I worked overseas I have to have specialized lawyers who know the laws of these overseas contracts. I am seeking retribution from the Worker's comp insurance company for not compensating my injury. I am also seeking retribution for wrongful termination from my company, since the Medical Director thinks he knows more than all doctors and then the company terminated me after they sent me home to see a specialist and thought it was fit to terminate someone who contracted something while traveling to work for them. I have a family and they made me wait 4 months with no pay, I could not seek unemployment because I was employed and I could not work another job because I was sent home on Worker's comp. I have 3 kids, nine, five and three. They are in school. Even my 3 year old is in school but we pay weekly for him to grow his mind. They all play sports, right now the older ones play soccer. My youngest just started t-ball. All that cost money. I have a mortgage, car payments, cell phones and medical bills. All that costs money. Money that is draining my savings account because a large security company doesn't care about a little fish like me. I finally was able to seek employment elsewhere since I was terminated without benefits or compensation. I am applying for a local police dept. but even if I am hired, I am not trained yet. Police Academy doesn't start for another 5 months. I need to pay for lawyers to get what I deserve from the insurance company and my former company. If you can help me and my family, even if it is a dollar. That dollar will go to help stop large companies who take advantage of people like me who don't have lawyers on hand at their becking call. It will help my 2 daughters and my 3 year old son. It will help a Veteran that earned a Purple Heart for injuries received in Combat. And when this is all over with I will say a prayer for your generosity and help in this matter.
