For these children we really can help change everything.
Jean Bosco Tshiswaka is a wonderful example of a Christian who, today, is helping to transform the lives of children living on the streets. Jean Bosco is a local Church Mission Society partner in the Democratic Republic of Congo, working with street children through an organisation called Kimbilio in the country’s second city, Lubumbashi.
At Project Kimbilio
Ready to play silly games at Kimbilio! At the day centre there is food and care, but also a chance to have fun, and be loved.
Once, family and communities would have given a home and love to a child in need, but poverty, civil war and HIV/Aids have changed that. Now these children are being lost to the streets, some are even accused of witchcraft and rejected by any family they have left.
At Kimbilio Jean Bosco, with a team of youth workers and volunteers, runs a day centre where children from the streets can eat, wash and get medical care, and play, be safe and be loved.
Kimbilio also has two houses and two transit homes for children: aiming, where it can, to reunite children with their families and giving a home, an education and love to some of those who have no one.
What Jean Bosco’s work can mean for a child is life changing.
