Campaign Story
On a cold rainy evening, a year ago, someone abandoned two puppies in my neighborhood, being addressed for my care. This kind of practice is quite common here and because we are very few rescuers in our community, people know us and "gift" us with undesired "living presents". There was no other solution than taking them into my care despite the fact that I already had 6 more dogs in my house.
Whilst the female puppy grew beautifully, as time passed I realized that her brother had several issues. Therefore, last year I've been taking Bobo to different specialists: neurologist, orthopaedist, ophthalmologist etc. One of the vets referred to him as being one of the most “defect” dogs he had ever seen. Yet, none of them recommended for Bobo to be put to sleep. In the end the pieces begun to arrange themselves like in a puzzle game. Bobo has cataract and possible glaucoma (he is almost blind) and multiple dysplasia (hips & elbows). And all these probably as congenital malformations due to Toxoplasmosis his mother has most probably had. And here is where sadly all our options ended as in Romania no veterinarian is known to successfully perform elbows dysplasia surgery.
As a rescuer, my "motto" is to try every possible solution before even thinking of giving up. On top of that, I really fell in love with this special boy and my dream is to see him fixed and enjoying his life to the fullest. As he's 1+ year old, it's time for him to be seen by an orthopaedist surgeon. I've been doing lots of research, sending emails to famous vets but as Bobo's situation is not that simple due to his lack of vision that makes him 100% dependent on me. I've decided to take him somewhere closer to home, so I can accompany him.
There are a few good specialists in Hungary that are ready to see Bobo. I have chosen the closest one (Dr. Pelle György from Nyíregyházi Oktató Állatkórház) as we can spend one day trip for the first check/tests and also get back home, which will be a less stressful first contact. After the complete investigations we'll know more about if his joints/elbows and eyes can be fixed through surgeries.
So please, if any of you can donate, we need a total of 300 Euro so we can ask for an appointment. This amount will cover the tests, benzine and a paid driver. Any help is more than appreciate! Thank you with all my heart for your help!

Update 3 - following the visit to Hungary
Update posted by Brindusa Apostol at 05:38 pmHello Bobo's friends! Here's the update of our Hungary trip to the vet clinic."If diagnosed in a young puppy, where there is still substantial growth potential, cutting the ulna bone relieves the constraining effect on the radius allowing continued limb growth and releasing pressure upon the joint surfaces. In more mature. . . . .
Update 2
Update posted by Brindusa Apostol at 03:02 pmDear Bobo's friends, I'd like to announce you that we finally got an appointment for the Hungarian clinic! It will be next week, on May 15th! We are very excited! It's both refreshing and frightening at the same time given Bobo's condition, but at least we'll know what to do,
