Why am I here?

Hello, I am Valentino R. Gahol's niece. We are based in Manila, Philippines. I created this profile to seek financial assistance for the remaining hospital bills that we cannot settle yet due to lack of funds. As a result, his death certificate has been put on hold until such time we pay off the remaining balance of Php 180,000. We have to be able to settle our balance in order for us to claim the death certificate and proceed with the interment of my uncle's remains this Sunday, January 13, 2019.

Who is Valentino R. Gahol?

Valen is a single father who raised 5 children. The 2 eldest already have their own families, the 3rd child just graduated and is looking for work, and the 2 youngest girls are still in secondary school. Valen is known as someone who is very funny despite all problems that he encountered in life. He literally brings laughter wherever he goes. He is also very helpful to the needy despite having to attend to his own needs. He always puts others before himself.

What happened?

Late 2018, Valen complained about a severe pain on his leg and foot which caused him to suffer and experience sleepless nights.

On December 29, 2018, he was admitted to National Kidney and Transplant Institute to prepare him for his operation. He had to go under the knife to remove the blood clot in his right leg. During the course of the operation, the surgeon also had to remove his big toe and a part of his ankle.

The operation was reported to be successful but after several hours, he had a seizure, his health suddenly deteriorated. and had massive bleeding. A day after, he was in comatose. The next day the cardiologist declared that he is already brain dead. Despite his critical condition, he was not transferred to the ICU as it is full of other patients and therefore, the proper care was not extended due to lack of facilities and people.

As well, we were not given concrete answers on what caused my uncle's sudden health deterioration. Reasons were vague and the attendants don’t seem to have ownership in the case of their patient. The hospital bill went up to almost Php500,000 but with the help of our family and relatives, we managed to bring down the balance to Php180,000 as of today, which we must raise immediately to meet the aforementioned need. All excess will go to funeral and memorial expenses, as well as, to his children.
