Campaign Story
The typhoon Odette left many people in my country and my hometown homeless and in need of basic things like food, water, shelter, and electricity. During the storm, houses were destroyed, trees and posts were fallen causing roads to be blocked and electricity lines cut. I am from the rural community of the Philippines and my parents and relatives currently live in a small community of Maasin City in Southern Leyte. Our village is about a 30 min ride to the small city which was also hit hard by the typhoon. While many areas and regions were affected, the rural communities seem to be the last places to be reached by the aids and restoration efforts of the government. Electrical supply is expected to be restored for months as many posts have been fallen by these strong winds. Thus, I want to initiate in my little way this fundraising effort to help restore the daily activity of my people in the community. I want to help buy roofs for the houses and churches, and a generator to charge their phones and flashlights. I wish to give new hope and joy to the people around my community there even in my absence. They might not be able to enjoy the coming holidays but I want to give smile to their faces as they face another year. Please help me in this life-changing effort for my people.
