Fundraising for Sabrina Elumbaring, a 6yr old leukemia patient

I'm Kenneth Paz and I wanted to do a simple fundraising for my cousin's daughter, Sabrina Elumbaring, a 6yr old Leukemia patient.

Sabrina, also known as ‘Abeng’, is a 6-year-old child, physically healthy and loves to play. Until one day, she was running and accidentally fell on her knees and had minor scratches. Two days past, large bruises started to appear on her knees.

Abeng’s parents decided to have a visit to her Pedia for a check-up. Routine diagnostics were taken for evaluation. She was initially diagnosed with ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura).

ITP is a medical condition in which the patient experience depletion of platelets, a blood component responsible for clotting and prevents sudden bleeding. The origin of this condition is unknown.

After couple of days being admitted, a significant decrease in her blood components were noted specifically in her WBC and hemoglobin as well as her platelet dropped in an alarming rate. As a result, this triggered a possible more critical diagnosis which required a biopsy of the bone marrow for confirmation.

Unfortunately, when the biopsy results came in, she was subsequently diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), a cancer of the lymphoid line of blood cells, characterized by the development of large numbers of immature lymphocytes. Hence, she is requiring regular blood transfusions due to her incompetent blood production and eventually needs to undergo chemotherapy.

Currently, she contracted an infection due to her weakened immune system, she is being treated in UP-PGH. The physician-in-charge to her care is making sure that her condition is stable before she go through a grueling 6-month session of chemotherapy.

Our family was shaken holistically, not to mention financially by this challenge but we stayed together, head up and heart strong.

Our faith is bigger than our fears.
