Fundraising for education for children

We are Rotaract Club Sofia City, part of Rotary International. Throughout the past seven years we have been working on various projects aimed to help and support children in several orphanages in Bulgaria.

The spread of the global coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions imposed by the governments of almost every country in the world changed the lives of everybody. However, among the most severely affected by the new “normal” are the children deprived of parental care.

The orphanage in the town of Dolna Banya, Bulgaria is home to 15 children aged between 4 and 18 years. Since March, children have been living in isolation and all visits by outsiders who are not close relatives have been prohibited due to the pandemic. In addition, the children are not allowed to leave the orphanage. Only the youngest of them go to school. Everyone else studies on their own, their classes are held remotely. Probably soon all children will switch to online education, even the youngest. Online learning has led to serious problems with the motivation and perception of learning material by children. Their isolation from the outside world led to severe problems with their psyche. They have no one to talk to, but each other. There are few educators who work at the orphanage, however, the children need professional psychological and pedagogical help.

So far, we have managed to find an educational platform through which teachers can teach them, but it is expensive. They also need a psychologist to help them with their situation of isolation and the mental problems it has caused.

We need your help. All funds raised will go to psychological and educational assistance for children.
