*****

I am Hazel Gloriani, a stay at home mom and my husband has no stable job to support our son's medical expenses. I have no brothers or sisters to help me out, and our relatives do not have enough money as well to help me and my son. I am humbly appealing to anyone who can help me and my son. Any amount that you can spare will be appreciated...

EARLY DIAGNOSIS

Seven months ago, our life changed dramatically for my family. Out of the blue, my 2 yr old son CALIX BJORN started developing mysterious symptoms for a few months, which we didn’t piece together at first. When we visited his pediatrician, the next thing we knew our whole world was changing. Calix’s blood results are very low in number.

I was stunned to find out my son could have a life-threatening illness, and to go through so much testing in such a short amount of time, was shocking. I didn’t have a lot of time to even process the information. I just wanted to find out what was wrong and how to cure it. These initial moments of dismay are understandably every parent’s worst nightmare. We were determined to follow the doctor’s recommendations, though, to find out exactly what we were dealing with.

After numerous blood testing and hospitalization for dangerously low platelet counts, failed to identify what was going on. He was diagnosed with a disease called "severe aplastic anemia" (SAA), a disease in which the bone marrow does not make enough blood cells for the body. This disease should be treated by blood or marrow transplant (BMT) which work for SAA and replaces the unhealthy bone marrow with healthy blood-forming cells (stem cells) from a donor. Transplant is the only potential cure for SAA.

ATG TREATMENT IS NEEDED

Anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) is an infusion of horse or rabbit-derived antibodies against human T cells, which is used in the prevention and treatment of acute rejection in organ transplantation and therapy of aplastic anemia. This treatment would cost us 1.2 million Philippine Pesos which is not possible for us to paid coming from our own pocket.

If you wish to verify everything I’ve said here, then all you have to do is contact Dr. Allan Robert Racho, blood disorder specialist at St. Luke's Quezon City Hospital, and he can vouch for everything I have said here.

Thank you very much in advance for your financial support and please continue to pray for Calix's complete healing once we undergo with the procedure.
