Hi meet baby Bree, our toughie and fighter premie.
She is two months and 21 days old today and has been confined at the NICU of The medical City since birth. Baby Bree was born premature at only 25 weeks and 5 days, weighing 920 grams.
Upon birth, she was immediately intubated and was placed inside the incubator due to difficulty in breathing where the lungs is not fully develop due to prematurity and low birth weight.
After a month, doctors tried to extubate Her several times trying to see if she could already breathe on her own but it seems her lungs are still underdeveloped and she does not have much muscle yet to keep her breathing at a steady rate without the help of a ventilator. They also shifted antibiotics several times because there was a progression of sepsis.
Last week, her pedia had noticed that there was something with her mouth and she would not latch onto feeding bottle she was diagnosed with soft cleft palate and will require a minor surgery after a year. However, she eats thru feeding tube (NGT) that was inserted in her nose down to her belly. We were advised to transfer our baby into government hospital to insert a temporary prosthesis so she can eat properly without a tube and continue some medications.
My partner and I have jobs but the hospital bill was just too big that we are having a hard time coping up. After a month in the NICU, our hospital bill was already at half a million pesos not including doctors' fees. We have exhausted all our savings. We have also applied for PCSO., PWD and DSWD assistance but they are not much. Our baby is ready to go home this month but our on hand money is not enough to settle down the bills to discharge her from the hospital.
We are seeking the goodness of family, friends and other people that might be willing to help. Your donations will help us, especially Baby Bree, tremendously.
Also, if it's not much to ask please join us in praying for Baby Bree's health. Thank you very much.
