Campaign Story
I've decided to create a gogetfunding account for my helper because whilst getting a one time lumpsum would help, I think this would REALLY help her in the long run. Please read on you can LITERALLY change her life (and that of 3 little girls too) and she really needs it.
Her name is Arlene B.M., she's from the Philippines (this rural place called Tuguegarao) and she became our helper about 3 months ago. Immediately upon her arrival, we learned that right before her flight to Singapore, her husband informed her that he had found someone else and left them to live with the other woman. My helper has 3 daughters aged 8-12 who have been living alone for the past few months because of this. Occasionally, an uncle would sleep over when he was in the area, and the 3 girls would have to lock themselves in their room because he was a drug addict and molested the oldest girl when she was 8.
My helper has no support system back in the Philippines. Her own parents pretty much abandoned her when she was a child to a relative who exploited her (used her as free labour) and the only reason why she got basic education was because a kind neighbour funded it. But as of now, she has no family to turn to.
There are many ways we can help, but as of now, financial support is really what she needs because:
1. She's going home to go to court against her husband to fight for custody of her children and to get maintenance fees from her husband.
2. TLDR She continued working in Singapore for 3 months instead of going home immediately to pay off her loans (to work in sg). And whilst my family has given her some funds to help with her expenses, she is still going home with barely any earnings.
3. Her husband has recently moved back into their home where his new mistress now visits and sleeps nightly IN ARLENE'S AND HIS PREVIOUS BED/BEDROOM and forces the eldest daughter to cook for both of them, and so she hopes to be able to get her own apartment of sorts where she can live with her children (she kind of has no choice because he's forcing her to move out). deets: Rental+basic expenses (including her kids' school expenses) in her area will be around $200-300 monthly, and your donations can help ensure that she and her children have a shelter over their heads while she goes to find a new job, and provide for their basic necessities until they have enough to fully purchase their own home.
I personally feel very involved in this because even though she is probably one of the helpers I've had the shortest time to know, I feel like she is one of the most devoted, kind-hearted, strong, brave and forgiving person I've ever known in my life. She reminds me, and this should be for all of us, that being a GOOD person should be regardless of your situation and circumstance. As I've said, the worst things sometimes happen to the best of people and I've never felt it more tangibly in my life. I only wish there was more I could do to help, so this also means a lot to me.
If you've read till here (or even bothered coming to this page) I'm super grateful and really hope that you can sacrifice whatever amount you deem fit. Because every dollar you donate will really go so much further in helping her rebuild her and her 3 daughters' lives. Thank you so so so much.
For those who can't donate here because you don't have a bank account, feel free to paylah me (84288872) and whatsapp me to let me know, I will make sure your donation gets into this account and keep accountable!
