Truly, God answers prayers! After a successful meeting with Sec. Teddy Locsin,
DFA confirms to shoulder the full costs of getting Leomer and Erika back home. We are beyond grateful and happy that Eka and Mer can finally rest having their loved ones around them. Salamat Sec Locsin!
We thank each and everyone who have joined their journey back home. Through your relentless concern and support we made this happen. As their best friends, we are deeply touched and thankful for the support you have given them. Binuhay naten ang diwa ng bayanihan at pagtutulungan. Walang hanggang pasasalamat!
With this, we would like to inform you that we are officially closing the fundraising campaign as requested also by Eka and Mer’s family.
Rest assured all proceeds will go to Leomer and Erika’s families. Nais din po nila ipaabot ang kanilang pasasalamat sa inyong pagmamahal kay Eka at Mer.
Again, our heartfelt thanks to everyone. Finally, eka and mer are going home! :)
-Leomer's workplace pledge to pay the full cost for his repatriation. (this will be confirmed by tomorrow)
-As of Jan14, 6:00PM, we have raised 1xx,xxx from our friends, families, and donors.
-As of Jan14, 7:15PM,insurance is yet to be confirmed.
-As of Jan15, 12:00AM, we have raised 2xx,xxx from our friends, families, and donors.
At around 9:52 pm, @mhapz lagradilla, sister of Leomer, informed us that they had a positive meeting with the DFA today. Accordingly, DFA will shoulder the expenses in sending Eka and Leomer's remains back home. Hopefully, this good news will be confirmed tomorrow by Leomer's father after his meeting with DFA Usec.
In connection to this, we would like to let you know that we have decided to stop accepting donations as we believe that due to the mentioned optimistic progress of this case, we no longer serve the purpose of creating a fundraising campaign anymore. We can now have something to hold onto knowing that there's a hopeful promise from our govt's end. We are beyond grateful for your donations for our beloved friends, Leomer and Eka. We couldnt believe that our love for them has transcended various platforms of communications.
Rest assured that all proceeds will be given to the family of Eka and Leomer. As already stated in different testimonials of their friends, Eka and Mer are breadwinners of their families. To make ends meet, they had to sacrifice a lot - even their relationship. After being an LDR couple for almost 6 years already, they deserve the glorious and joyous celebration of their marriage - and nobody can question that 🙂
For those donors who feel like we were unable to achieve the purpose of this fundraising campaign, we could arrange on how to return your donations 🙂Again, we thank each and everyone who gave their precious time in giving donations, heartwarming messages and prayers for the couple.

Thank you and let's bring them home to their families.
1. Why are we rasing funds?
We are raising funds because we want them to be home ASAP. According to Adam of Philippine Consulate in Male, we need a total of 1,268,000 PHP to embalm the bodies to ship to Sri Lanka where they will be prepared to ship to Philippines. As of writing, their bodies are still in a morgue in Maldives, awaiting payment before they do anything.
2. Did we contact any government branch?
We called directly to Maldives, Sunday (Jan 13) night, we weren't able to contact anyone from DFA to urgently address the matter. Their families already went to DFA Monday (Jan 14) but need to go back Tuesday (Jan 15) to meet USEC Catapang. There is no guarantee if they will shoulder any of the expenses for repatriation. What we are sure of is time is passing and everyday that we fail to give the amount, it is another day for them in Maldives' morgue charging $500 each just to hold them there.
As of writing, we just received an e-mail from DFA Philippines telling us where the bodies are, hich we already know from yesterday (and we have more information from our own contacts than what they sent ut). This is also why we are taking this in our own hands because if we just let it solely to the government, it may take time, and time is of the essence.
Unfortunately they did not have travel insurance, but we hope that where they were working, they have company insurance. Protocol says to make any claims from insurance we need receipts, to have receipts, payment is needed first.
4. Who are the people whose accounts are posted online?
We are their best friends from high school. We were friends for 15 years. We are constantly in contact also with each others families. We grew up together and their parents are like our parents, same as ours to them. This is a very trying time for their families and we took on this task to help them raise funds. Being at this age and top in our fields, we like to think that we have the reach and contacts that can help them.
