William Kyrkjeøy Holden was a key person in the Norwegian farmhouse brewing community. He started the Norwegian Farmhouse Ale Festival and was the main organizer of it. He collected several of the kveik cultures and was very active in promoting kveik and teaching people how to brew traditional beers.
William suffered from poor health over the last few years, and was hospitalized in early October. Monday November 12th he passed away.
Several people have asked for a way to contribute to William's family in respect for his memory. William's daughter Mina Sofie, 3 years, has a mutation in the CASK gene, which means she suffers from Pontocerebellar hypoplasia. As a result she is multi-handicapped, and William and his family had to make expensive alterations to their house to adapt it to her electric wheelchair. Because of this, contributions to the family's economy are welcome.
