Fundraiser for the Lung Surgery of Louis

Louis is a 16 y/o boy who had pneumothorax in July 2022. Tall and thin adolescent males are typically at greatest risk. Around 20% of air leaked out of his lungs and was presented with difficulty in breathing and chest pains. He was cured with medication and oxygen therapy. On October 12, he had pneumothorax again, this time 58% of air went out.

The doctors decided to do a surgery to place a chest tube to drain the air that leaked out. Since the condition reoccurs, a series of tests were done to check the status of his lungs. It was seen that there are fibrosis that prevents the left lung from fully expanding and there is a high chance of pneumothorax happening again. This needs to be removed.

VATS (Video-assisted thorascopic surgery) was advised by the doctors to remove the unhealthy part and for the lung to resume to its normal function.

The chest tubes are still attached to Louis due to the high chance of air leaking. He had to stay to the hospital for a week and also had infection. He is at home now and is under medication for 2 weeks to prepare him for the upcoming surgery.

We are asking for your financial support since the HMO coverage is all used up. Lung surgery is costly and during these times, our funds are not enough to pay for all the medical expenses.
