About the Organization

PAWSsion Project is a non-profit animal welfare organization, established by Ms. Malou Perez on October 18th 2018. All these started when Ms. Malou came across a FaceBook post regarding 50 impounded dogs scheduled for euthanasia through gunshot. During the day the dogs were supposed to be killed, she stepped up and executed her plan of rescuing the 50. Fast forward to the present time, they now have two shelters serving as temporary homes for around 300 dogs, compromising of rescues from the streets and from pounds in Metro Manila and Bacolod area.

Aside from rescuing unwanted dogs, PAWSsion Project also takes pride in rehabilitating and rehoming their rescues, as well as lobbying laws for a change in the process of the government's solution in making Philippines rabies-free (which is through euthanizing caught strays) and for the stricter implementation of the country's Animal Welfare Act.

What This Means to Me

My drive to help stray dogs in the Philippines started when I last visited the country on December 2018. Tears dawn on me one rainy night when I've realized that there are millions of dogs out there who are feeling scared, cold, alone, and unloved. I remember freaking out during car rides, frightened about the possibility of hitting stray dogs on the roads. Everywhere I went, there were dogs in sight, even when we hiked Mt. Batulao in Batangas! After coming back home from my trip in the Philippines, the thought of wanting to improve the life condition of Aspins (Asong Pinoy -- Filipino Dogs) remained in my mind. I promised myself, and the dogs I've met during my trip, that one day, I will majorly contribute in improving the quality of lives of Aspins. Then, a few months later PAWSsion Project came into my life. I remember being teary-eyed, thinking to myself, "Yes, there is hope for the stray dogs in the Philippines. There are individuals fighting for them RIGHT NOW."

Funds collected from this campaign will go towards the rescues' medications and vettings, daily food intake, spay and neuter operations; shelter maintenance and upgrade; rent utility and expenses; and massive sterilization programs that PAWSsion Project is planning to organize.
