Fundraiser for my parents – Alberto & Fe Fernandez

My parents - my Dad Alberto (Bobby), a retired Emergency Physician, and my Mom Fe, a retired nurse - have worked hard all of their lives. For over 40+ years, they’ve served the rural communities of Southern West Virginia. They showed me what it means to be of service to others and inspired me to live a meaningful life with integrity, optimism, hope, determination and compassion. I have an enormous sense of gratitude and appreciation for the love and sacrifice they've shown in raising me. It has been difficult few years for them, yet most people don’t realize they’re facing hardship. Ever since both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer in 2014, Dad (03/29/14 - Stage 1, Plasma Cell Dyscrasia and Mom (09/12/14 - Stage 4, Squamous cell carcinoma in her right mouth and jaw), they've struggled with financial problems. Less income and assets. Debt because of the cost of cancer treatment and care. Trouble paying for housing, food, bills. Maintenance therapy to help during post treatment survivorship. All of their financial and insurance options have been exhausted to cover this.

My parents are the most loving, caring and generous people I know. They've been helpful to many friends and family in financial need, often loaning or gifting money. I believe that because of this, they're entitled to receive some of that financial help back. This fundraiser has been set up to offset their financial setback. Now is the time for them to rest, heal, recover, and receive.

I’m determined in continuing to offer my parents everything they need to properly overcome this, but I cannot do this on my own. I ask for your help.
