Fundraiser for Kandace’s School Trip to Washington DC

Towards the end of the school year, Kandace and many other 8th graders are to take a wonderful trip to Washington DC for a once in a lifetime educational experience and field trip. The trip is somewhat costly. It is not totally within our budget to pay for out of pocket at the present time. The school did offer a fundraiser. However, it was pretty much selling gambling chances. As a Christian family we felt it was wrong to partake in any fundraiser related to gambling. They did have one other smaller fundraiser, but somehow we never got any information on that one until it is too late. They do have the option for self/parent fundraising. That is what this fundraising campaign on gogetfunding is for. They told the students at school at the end of last week that they only have a few spots open. That means if Kandace is to go, we must take care of it ASAP. Kandace came home worried that she might not get to go to this trip that she has been planning on and looking forward to since 7th grade (thought it would be ok because we were simply gonna use refund money). However, not it looks like it may not happen unless we can raise the funds quickly. Some would say as parent that we should have did the fund raiser that involved gambling. However, we chose to pay out of our pocket when tax time comes rather than have her take part in something that goes against our Christian values in selling gambling opportunities. The money was not due until March, so we thought we had plenty of time. However, they filled up spots fast and now there are only a few spots left.

This means that we must have the money right away to lock in one of the final spots. Please donate if you can and share. My daughter is such a sweet young lady. We (including herself) really desire for her to have this much wanted educational experience and learning opportunity. For those of you who know her, you know she loves to sing. She sings for the Lord and in church. This makes me really proud of her. That is all the more reason I feel she deserves this opportunity and would love to make sure she doesn't miss the opportunity by not locking in one of the final spots. Please help if you can. Please consider this just as you would buying something for a school fundraiser. This is simply doing a fundraiser without trying to sell you something. Not only that what they wanted them to sell was a chance in selling gambling tickets, which I just felt was not right to instill in my daughter in trying to raise funds. Hope what I am saying makes sense. Thanks so much everyone.
