Campaign Story
This fundraiser is for the medical and hospital bills of Col. Milagros B. Legaspi (Ret.)
UPDATE AS OF JULY 30
Our mom has been transferred to Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) last Tuesday night and will be treated there free of charge as a retired Military Nurse.
She is scheduled to undergo elective tracheostomy this coming week. As she is still considered to be in a critical condition, we are asking all our friends and prayer warriors to seek God's guidance and grace for mom to be out of harm's way, and for her continuous recovery.
To Medical Center Muntinlupa (MCM), thank you to all the doctors, nurses, admin, and Management for taking care of our mom. We are truly grateful that they reconsidered our incapacity to settle the amount being asked from us initially, and they agreed to a monthly payment for the next 30 months or so.
It's still a long battle ahead, and we can never thank enough the people who prayed, gave advice, donated, and who constantly checked on us. From the whole family, thank you very much! ❤️
*****
Last June 13, our mom's blood pressure, oxygen level and temperature suddenly went down. As we thought these might be symptoms of Covid-19, she was rushed to the ER of Medical Center Muntinlupa (MCM). Her oxygen level was still below normal, so doctors decided to have her intubated for 2 weeks, then switched to an oxygen mask when she was able to maintain normal oxy levels for a few days, but now back to being intubated. Within that period, she also had 3 sessions of hemoperfusion to filter her blood due to bacteria build up and had blood transfusion due to bleeding hemorrhoids.
Final diagnosis is Acute Respiratory Failure Type IV secondary to Septic Shock.
She is still in the hospital, intubated and still at high risk due to her age (she's 81) and her history of diabetes, hypertension, acute stroke and pacemaker insertion in 2019. Her blood pressure, hemoglobin, oxygen and CO2 levels are continuously being monitored as there are days that her vitals fall below normal ranges.
Her doctors also suggested that she undergo the procedure of elective tracheostomy. This we plan to proceed with when she's in a more stable condition and cleared by the doctors to be transferred to RITM or Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
At this point, we're already on cash basis on some of her meds and labs, at approximately Php 20-25K per day. We already received financial help thru donors and guarantee letters, however we are now financially exhausted with the bill at Php 1.8M (as of July 21), and running out of resources to settle at least Php 1.3M to be allowed to transfer.
We know we are all living through difficult times now, but we are knocking on your kind hearts to pool funds, no matter how big or small, for our Mom. Financial help, any advice, and prayers are very much appreciated. We're thankful that our mom is a strong-willed person and we know we will overcome this challenge, however long it might take.
Thank you!
