When I was In Mumbai back in 2019 I met “Gary” Kshitij B. who ended up becoming one of my best friends. He owns a music school where he teaches guitar and drums to Indian kids of all ages, some of them from very modest family backgrounds. I loved the mission and spontaneously suggested to do a guitar class while being there. Within 4 days Gary made it happen and over 40 kids showed up to learn about blues and improvisation. We even gave a small concert. You see some of these pictures below.
The Covid year 2020 took a big toll on Gary’s 6th String Music Academy, he had to close down and lost the lease as well. Finally, in the last 2 months he started rebuilding at a new location from scratch.
He is in need of some more funds in order to secure a permanent opening of the school again. This has been a rough year for him including the sudden unexpected passing of his father.
If there is any modest way you can help facilitate this mission of rebuilding the music school then please do. Your donation will
- help kids in Mumbai get quality music lessons even in these difficult times (online and in person)
- strengthen a music community
- feed a few families of teachers
- give hope and inspire
