Fundraiser Benefiting Motol Pediatric Oncology

The main goal of this campaign is to raise money benefeting Motol Hostital Pediatric Oncology.

The Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the University Hospital Motol in Prague http://www.fnmotol.cz/microsite-kdho/en/ takes care of children and adolescents between 0 – 18 years with cancer and severe hematological disorders. An Integral part of the department is the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit where children from all over the Czech Republic receive hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. We admit 180 new patients with cancer annually and we perform 30 allogeneic stem cell transplants. A few thousand former patients are monitored in the long-term follow-up outpatient clinic and controled for the development of late effects. Children are treated according to modern treatment recommendations, often with the international collaboration.

A significant part of the department is the Laboratory Center http://clip.lf2.cuni.cz/en/. Special diagnostics and research are realized in the laboratories focused mainly on leukemias, solid tumors and primary immunodeficiencies. A team of researchers headed by Professor Jan Trka achieved the international reputation and participates in the international scientific network.

Money raised will be used for the improvement of the quality of life of children admitted to the ward and for research on childhood cancer.
