Hi,

Firstly, thank you for stopping by my page and taking the time to read me! I would like to request help for funding as I have exhausted all funds. I have written a children's book which my Mom says is good! Just joking, I've written a children's book which is about a Peacock who lives deep within a jungle far, far away. The Peacock wants to shake her tail feathers and join in the animals' merry dance. She can't understand why she doesn't have those feathers (it's because she is female) and goes on a journey of acceptance-not realising she was all along. The story also introduces a new dance craze that anyone can do-especially if you are a Peacock!

How is this different?

Well, my aim is for this to be a studied text in schools as their are various lessons that can be planned around it. These teaching points are as follows-

Drama or Assembly-Perform infront of class or school

Dance lesson- Perform the dance, what does it look like? How do the animals move? On all fours? Do they move lightly or heavily?

Design Technology-The children can make rain sticks and other musical instruments which echo the noises in the jungle.

Literacy-Set up a crime scene where the children have to find out who has stolen the feathers, they can identify the culprit by their footprints. Children to film Tv news report or write news article.

ICT- Children can create an interactive game using zondle-it could be multiple questions about the animals.

Numeracy-Mixing potions to make the feathers grow (capacity).

Geography- How do we classify or identify animals? (Venn diagram).

Science-Investigation into materials, how can we strengthen things? What would keep the animals  dry in the rain? Make a waterproof hat. Children to predict, create and make a hat to keep them dry-They will then test it. Link to habitats and places of shelter in the rainforest, caves, leaves, trees. Show children how to plait leaves.

Art-Cut black silhouettes of jungle animals and colourwash the background in hot summer colours.

General studies-Save the trees. Discuss de-forestation, why it is happening and what we can do?

Music-What do the animals sound like? Can you make a class orchestra using just your voices?Compose music to go with the new dance, What can we use? Loud, soft, build up, Can we use our hands/ feet? Create a thunderstorm using your bodies, build up and fade out.

PSHE- How does it feel to be laughed at? Could the animals have done anything differently? Track the Peacock's emotions throughout the story. Hot seat the different characters. What would you do if you were her? Conscious alley.

I will be giving a third of all proceeds to a different children's charity each month in order to pay it forward ( I love the concept of helping).

What I need to do

Library and school sessions

Author tours

Lesson packs

Promotional material

Things I would like to do supporting the book- create a website which has interactive games, different endings to the story, and online virtual hub for teachers to share their lesson plan ideas.

I would be extremely grateful for any donation, no matter how small. Every little helps

Thank you for your time,

Cherry :-)
