Campaign Story
**Updated**
Today, the vet said that Blossom is recovering really well. We are really grateful to all Dr Landon, Dr Cathy, and their entire team for treating Blossom. We just want to take this chance to re-emphasize how important the CT Scan was. There was a moment where we thought we could just forgo the CT scan (partly due to the cost, which is actually higher than the surgery itself). But the CT scan provide the most valuable information, not just to tell us what is going on, but also to act as a blueprint to guide Dr Cathy in operating Blossom accurately and efficiently. Without the CT Scan, there might be a higher risk of operating at the wrong area. We are just thankful that we made the right choice.
Story of Blossom
Blossom is a rescue bunny from Bunny Wonderland (BW). She was found with 5 other bunnies along Bukit Batok Road on 14 June 2015. Abandoned by their breeder, spiders and maggots were found all over them. BW was contacted and they brought the bunnies for a thorough health check at The Animal Clinic. All 5 rabbits had huge clumps of fur held together by poo, pee and dirt. Their nails were horrendously long which indicated long-term negligence. Blossom had fur loss around her neck and had to be nursed back to health.
My friend, Wendy, adopted Blossom from BW on 7 August 2016 and she is now 5 years old. Wendy is an avid animal lover and has cared for rabbits many years. Wendy learned about adoption on Instagram through “Bunnymama” and decided to contact BW to help rescue a rabbit. During the BW adoption drive, little Blossom was the only rabbit that went up to Wendy and licked her hand. The volunteers at BW saw the chemistry between Blossom and her and decided that Blossom had chosen her owner.
Blossom has since been living with Wendy and her family in a loving environment with unlimited hay supplemented with nutritious pellets in a nice cosy playpen filled with fun toys. Blossom is fed with fresh vegetables every day. She has truly found a home of joy!
Blossom's Condition
However, few days ago, an unfortunate health issue struck Blossom. She stopped eating and drinking and was brought to The Animal Doctor. The vet suspects a growth on her right eye and due to extricating pain, she has lost about 100g (7% of her mass weight) which is very significant to a small animal. The vet is suspecting her of Retrobulbar Abscess or Mass Growth and medication was given but has been ineffective. In fact, the growth surrounding her eye has been growing rapidly and has ruptured quickly, resulting in the loss of sight in her right eye. She is now hospitalised at The Animal Doctor and is scheduled for a CT Scan on 7 Sep, Thu at Landon Specialist which is the earliest CT scan that we can make for Blossom due to the severity of her condition. Daily hospitalisation cost is about S$180 - S$220 and the CT Scan will cost around S$3,000. Her upcoming surgery to remove the growth will amount to another S$1,500. The vet will have to remove her entire eye to remove the growth mass.
Blossom means a lot to her Wendy and they are very attached to each other. It has been heart-breaking time to see Blossom in so much pain and discomfort. I hereby seek your help to give your best to help in the hefty costs so that Blossom can get her due treatment. She is still active and her left eye is in perfect sight. She is currently on drip so that her overall health can improve. Blossom’s organs are functioning well and has the potential of adapting well to her environment after her surgery.
Your *giving will help Blossom go a long way and I will post updates on her condition here.
Thank you so much!
Lawrence
