Disabled Access Bathroom Needed

This is a campaign, to raise desperately needed funds for a bathroom that has disabled accessible for safe bathing. It’s currently in need of new facilities being installed, along with repairs and decorating.

I was attacked and mugged in 2009, which left me permanently disabled. I sustained a traumatic brain injury which left me having to learn to walk and talk again. Sadly, I never fully recovered and now rely on assistance with everyday tasks.
The traumatic brain injury has led to the early onset of Alzheimer at age 42, which will progress at a faster rate as I get older.

My partner of 21 years was my carer. he died a year ago which has been traumatic and extremely difficult to cope with! Emotionally and physically! He assisted me with bathing along with many other daily tasks.

My current facilities are unsafe and practically unusable. The bath is not secured to the wall and I am unable to lean on it, the wooden frame is not secured so getting into it is not only difficult and extremely painful but unsafe also.

It’s desperately important for me to try and have some independence, when I need assistance more often than not now! I fall often and have memory issues, poor concentration.Tremors,confusion. Poor balance and Constant pain. Which has led to broken bones and injuries. I have Arthritis and lung conditions, along with other painful conditions.

Prior to my attack I was a residential care worker with children and young people in care. I loved my job and I worked hard!.
I also worked in a day centre caring for people who had various disabilities. Also working as a care assistant prior to this. Having spent my life caring for others and loving every minute! It’s heartbreaking to now have to be cared for, which is extremely difficult for me to cope with!

I have extreme difficulty getting into the bath. It is painful and dangerous for me to bathe alone with my current facilities due to falls and issues that I have mentioned. Therefore, I need the correct facilities to bathe safely while I can. Although I still require a family member to be close by.

My health has been deteriorating and will continue to do so. Eventually I will have to get assistance with all of my personal care. Along with full time care in general.
The entire situation is a nightmare with my bathroom. Being a homeowner, I am responsible for carrying out all repairs and alterations. Unfortunately I am now unable to afford to complete the necessary bathroom renovations. Being independent and providing for my family which includes ensuring that all of my obligations as a homeowner are met. Has always been so important to me and I wish to continue doing as much as I can, for as long as I can.

My hygiene routine is extremely important to my limited independence. Which admittedly I have been struggling with!
I know, that there are those in a more desperate situation than I am. I am grateful for everything that I do have. However I honestly do not know where else to turn!.

There’s no available assistance that I can receive in the next few years due to budget cuts. All other options have been looked into without any success. As mortifying as I find the idea of asking for the generosity of strangers, I simply don’t know what to do!
