Update: July 9, 2017

It has been more than a month since my dad has been hospitalized because of a traumatic brain injury when he suffered a hard fall hitting his head. The only thing keeping him in the ICU now is his difficulty of breathing (which the doctors' impression is due to emphysema that developed in the course of his smoking when he was younger). He still isn't able to sustain his breathing without the help of a mechanical ventilator. Until he's able to breathe on his own and still hooked up to a vent, he'll still stay in the hospital.

When he is able to be released, he will be transitioned to home care as he won't be able to get up and be on his own for a long while.

We are continuously praying that his body will be healed enough that he will be able to breathe on his own and get released from the hospital soon.

Update: June 13

It's been two weeks since my dad was hospitalized.

Some good news: Papa's fever is starting to go down, the doctor said it looks like the antibiotics are finally kicking in. His breathing is also improving. He still has support from a ventilator but he's no longer having trouble unlike before, when his own breathing was asynchronous with the machine. His vitals are stable and looking good.

His brain is also continuously healing. Please keep on praying for my dad. I really really hope we can be transferred out of the ICU soon. 🙏🙏🙏

Update: June 8

Day 10.

Please please keep praying for my dad's speedy recovery. 🙏

He's still in the ICU as of today. We were supposed to get transferred out to a regular room yesterday but he developed a pulmonary infection causing respiratory distress. He is currently intubated to support his breathing. Thank God his vitals are stable right now. Hopefully he will keep on improving and his meds are able to fight the infection. Thank you so much for all your help and prayers. My family and I appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. God bless! ❤

Update: June 2

Day 4. Papa is still in the ICU. The doctors requested a chest CT due to a suspected lung infection found on his X-ray. They will also run a repeat CT scan for the brain to evaluate the current status of his brain injuries. We're praying that the tests will show stable results.

June 1st, 2017

Hi. Last Monday night, my father was coming home when he suffered a severe fall causing a traumatic brain injury. He is currently admitted at the Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) in a hospital in Quezon City, Philippines and is still under observation for the next 4 days, at least.

This is Day 3. We're still a long ways away from his recovery but we are hoping and praying that the improvement we have seen thus far since he was brought to the ER (on the night of May 29th) continues to rise.

Any amount you can give will surely help with the medical expenses for both his critical care and anticipated long recovery. Our family appreciates everyone who'd already reached out and extended their help. Thank you so much and may God bless you abundantly in return! Please also keep him in your prayers <3

Hoping to hear my Papa's singing again very soon,

Mayee

Update posted by Mayee Manalo at 12:19 pm

As of last June 17, we were able to facilitate my father's transfer to Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) in Project 4, Quezon City. He is still admitted in the ICU. We're still praying that his body can take being weaned off the mechanical ventilator now that his infection has. . . . .
