Funding A New Wheelchair For Richard Who Is A Paraplegic Barely Surviving on Disability Benefits

My name is Richard and I’m a paraplegic from Bradford West Yorkshire England I am trying to raise £4600 for a lightweight rigid wheelchair, my current wheelchair is heavy and bulky in comparison and is also harder to propel as well as stow in my car when driving. I struggle to get it in my car, it barely fits in my car and it’s starting to damage my car as a result of it and it’s also stopping me going out as much as I like, I also suffer with anxiety and depression ptsd and ocd so it’s also good for me to get out as much as I can. 8 years ago I had a nasty fall from a tree, which as a result left me with a t5-t12 spinal cord injury which has left me paralysed from the waist down. Prior to this I was a landscape gardener, who enjoyed my job and enjoyed life. I am now at the stage in my life now where I’m going out a lot more and my current wheelchair isn’t suitable for my needs. Unfortunately the nhs wheelchairs aren’t suitable for my needs either to big and heavy. A new lightweight wheelchair will make a big difference to my life, propelling myself around will be easier plus I will be able to get it into my car with ease, which will make my life so much easier. Unfortunately living on disability benefits means I just scrape by and don’t have enough money to save for one also a lot of charity’s now don’t do grants anymore. If I could afford it myself I would I don’t usually like asking for money but I’m desperate this wheelchair will make such a big difference to my life, I’ve been assessed for a lightweight wheelchair.
