Time Travel is a story written for the stage by Keshia Maconi and directed by Raeez Jacobs. The locally produced drama slated to headline this year's Eldos Arts Festival, is a celebration of coloured culture; a culture which director, Raeez Jacobs insists, "is far from any cliché, or that which is expected to originate from Eldorado Park." "It's a portrayal of coloured culture that has rarely ever been seen, because so much of coloured people and Eldorado Park, for that matter, has been entrenched in stereotypes associated with violence and drugs." He adds.

Time Travel is a 90 minute musical that essentially tells the story of three women, Joan and her daughter, India and then Janice, Joan's bestfriend from childhood who clings to her youth, with deathless perseverance. Quite the opposite of Joan, whose past life of glitz, glam, and disco has given way to a more sombre and predictable existence. She is the proverbial life of the party. Now her daughter India, as much of an impassioned dancer as her own mother once was, before things went bad. India begins to ask all the questions Joan had been dreading, especially those related to her father and the tragedy Joan won't readily disclose. After dropping out of varsity and with her secret dance recital approaching, India must find a way to come to terms with the past. And what she eventually comes to me, is quite the magical surprise.

And so, in order to make this project a reality, and with the arts festival only two weeks away, we are humbly requesting your support and donations in order to assist with the costs of compensation for our talented artists and hardworking crew, the costs of press releases and advertising, and printing as well as other miscellaneous charges. The Eldos Arts and Jazz festival is a creation of the Eldorado Park Arts Foundation which is a registered NPO, that receives no funding from government and which has no steady income, we rely on sponsorship and partnerships with respective partners and donors in order to make our events possible. Therefore, your assistance and sponsorship, however big or small, will be highly appreciated.
