Fund Tibettruth

Update posted by tibet truth On Jan 08, 2018

Hi to all our friends across social media who have been so kindly donating towards our activism on Tibet, hope you are all well and happy and will enjoy a prosperous and fun 2018.

As you know from time-to-time we are required to seek donations to support our work, it's not something we take any pleasure from, unfortunately since we are a network made-up of volunteers, the generosity of individuals who choose to donate is our only source of funding.

We've been incredibly fortunate to receive such contributions, they are vital in maintaining our presence across the internet, securing our computing resources and investing in upgrades.

Most recently we appealed for help in getting a replacement laptop that would be less vulnerable to security and malware issues. As you may imagine due to our action on Tibet we attract the attention of China's covert cyber attacks, so ensuring our resources are secure is a major priority.

The response to our appeal was once again deeply humbling with several hundred dollars being contributed, unfortunately the target we had of around $800 was not reached and so we have had to place plans on a new computing resource on hold.

Meanwhile we are approaching a time in the year when we renew our domain hosting and VPN accounts, that protect and enable our activism across the internet is secured for 2018.

In an ideal world if we received just $1.00 from each of our followers on Twitter we'd have enough funding to meet such costs with ease, unfortunately our experience has been that contributions are given by the same amazingly kind friends. While such incredible kindness is deeply appreciated, from our perspective we feel kinda awkward in issuing appeals to those who, on each occasion when asked, donate.

We have such fantastic support across the internet, people from around the world follow our activism on Tibet, sharing our information, helping us to get the facts out there and standing in solidarity with our effort to expose and challenge China's tyranny.

To maintain such action requires funding, and while we ourselves have invested in resourcing our digitial activism, and been supported by a small number of generous friends, we are required to appeal to all those who value our work and would like to contribute.

In that regard please accept our apologies if you have previously been asked to help, but we hope you may understand that in asking for assistance we do so to secure and expand upon our work for Tibet's just cause.

If you wish to donate then please make a contribution here.

Thanks for your patience in reading this update/appeal.

This Linux laptop (Strata 8110) at $850 is the sort of expansion to our main computing resources we are seeking help with, but before giving you the breakdown on why we are asking for your support on that goal here's the 2107 story so far.

The Fall is upon us and we wanted to update all our friends on our digital presence and resources on Tibet, as the year moves towards its conclusion. Well thanks to your amazing generosity we were able to maintain our internet presence, renewing our domain hosting, investing in back-up resources, updating a number of security measures including our VPN resources. In addition during October we launched a new design for our Blog, which has attracted a lot of positives from folks. It runs very smoothly across all devices, is a dream to navigate and has a fresh and striking appearance. We think its the perfect platform for our articles, news and resources on Tibet. The donations received also enabled us to upgrade a notebook which has been dedicated to out-in-the field operations, meetings and research.

It's been a totally amazing year for our activism so far, and our internet reach and profile is taking the facts on Tibet to an ever increasing number of people. It could not have happened without your kindness and support. We want to expand our work for the Tibetan cause and with the assistance of like-minded people who care about the plight of Tibet make sure the issue is not marginalized, obscured or misrepresented.

In that activism we are targeted and opposed by the Chinese regime and so it is ever critical that our resources are secure and protected from cyber-attack. It is because of such considerations that we would like to move from Windows and Apple operating systems to Linux, which offers a more stable and reliable system, less vulnerable to malware and viruses.

Since we are not a funded organization, comprising of individual volunteers we are required to appeal for assistance, our aim has to be realistic, as we cannot afford to replace all our computing resources. So the priority is hopefully buy one Linux laptop, which will be used to expand our main resources on Tibet activism.

We've been helped in identifying the most appropriate options and at present have set a target of $800 - $1000 which will be used entirely to purchase such a computer.

If you feel you can make a donation towards this fundraise campaign we'd be genuinely thankful, as any contributions received will hopefully allow us to obtain this valuable resource in our digital activism for Tibet.

Thanks for your patience in eading this update, whether you are one of our longstanding friends and supporters, or recently discovered our work for human rights and national freedom in Tibet, please help this campaign.

Hi,

Recently our twitter team, @tibettruth was reporting from events at the UNCSW in New York. It was an intense couple of weeks to get information out on a 24/7 basis. An amazing job was done but the amount of time involved was significant and as we are helped by volunteers, and are a non-profit network we could not devote as much exposure to equally import issues and breaking news on Tibet related matters. Given the volume of information that was posted over the time at UNCSW it was pretty apparent that we need to invest in a social media management service to enable us to better co-ordinate, plan and time, across a range of accounts, our posts. This will extend even further our digital presence and make sure we get information, news and resources on Tibet and related human rights issues to the widest global audience in the most efficient manner.

We've done some research on options and have identified a number of such services, they offer a variety of options, and range in cost from $8 to $40 per month.

Initially we'd like to run an account for a year and would welcome donations from anyone who supports our activism for Tibet. Any contributions will be hugely helpful in the day-to-day work we conduct online, and prove a powerful resource in bringing the subject of Tibet's plight to people across social media.

Our target to cover expenses for the duration of 2017 is to raise $500, all donations received will be dedicated towards subscribing to that service and should there be any excess, we'll direct that towards the forthcoming #teamGlasto4TIBET action which our friend are again organizing.

Thanks for taking time to read this, to our amazing supporters who have so generously donated previously please forgive this additional appeal, we hope you may understand our need to request your support and that of folks who are new to our efforts for the just cause of Tibet. Your contribution makes it possible for us :)
