My cousin Krish is a 23 year old high school teacher who has developed Chronic Kidney disease and has been in National Kidney and Transplant institute since July 17, 2018. From a simple headache a week from July 17, he started to experience vomitting and LBM and in just a few days developed edema in his extremeties and started to have difficulty in breathing. It was already a full blown chronic Kidney disease by time we reached NKTI on July 17 and with his hemoglobin level below 5 and oxygen level continuously dropping he was put on tubes and performed emergency dialysis and blood transfusion.
After more than 8 sessions of hemo dialysis, the doctor has offered to shift him to peritoneal dialysis wherein he and family members can do this at home. Kidney biopsy is not even possible due to his kidneys are already thin, leaving him with no choice but to continue with the dialysis until he gets a kidney transplant. He is currently doing peritoneal dialysis 4 times a day as hemodialysis is not sustainable. But since then he has developed edema/water retention again all over his body. Final diagnosis of the doctors in NKTI is CKD - Chronic kidney disease and even though he is doing peritoneal dialysis this will not revive his kidneys. Kidney transplant is the only way to save and prolong his life. His father Daniel Masanque, is willing to donate one of his kidneys for Krish, but still our struggle is to fund their operation.
We are seeking your help to help us fund his kidney transplant and hospitalization which is already billed at Php 250,000 as of 8/7. His immediate family is not capable of funding all the hospitalization, medication and the kidney transplant which is approximately Php 600,000 from Philhealth Z Kidney transplant package, so we as their family is reaching out each and everyone who may be able to help us get the funds we need for his transplant and ultimately to extend his life. More importantly we seek for your prayers for his healing and for God's miracle and blessings.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless you all!
UPDATE as of 8/18: He has suffered cardiac arrest last thu 8/16. We have already raised our concerns to the hospital due to the hospital discharge last 8/15 despite family concerns that edema is still present and patient developed cough an hour prior to actual discharge. 12 hrs after discharge he already develooed difficulty breathing and was rushed to hospital. His lungs were filled with water and he has pneumonia. Doctors decided to intubate him as he oxygen is already at 37%, then suffered cardiac arrest. In transit from the nearest hospital to NKTI he suffered 2 cardiac arrests again but he kept coming back. He was flatline for more than 10mins but they were able to revive him. He was declare on comatose for few hours (probably around 8hrs or so). Until the doctor in NKTI tried to call his name and ask him questions and he tried his best to anwer by nodding his head.
This is already under investigation by the hospital due to possible lapses during the discharge.
As of today he is already conscious, he can lift his hands, move his feet/legs, he aswers by moving his eyebrows and head, he types his message thru phone when he wants to say something. Thank God!!! Henis really fighting, his will to live and his faith in the Lord is so strong. Even the doctors and nurses are quite surprised with his recovery considering everything he has gone thru.
We would like to take this opportunity to help everyone who has donated and shared this post. We are still a long way for the Kidney transplant since we need to have him stabilized first. But nevertheless, all your donations, prayers and sharing of this link is greatly appreaciated. We will be forever grateful to you for helping our family get thru this. Again, thank you very much for helping us.
