Fund Raising for Anthony Nolan

My best friend Emma was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was 19 and at University. She is one of the strongest people I have ever known and even completed a 5K whilst undergoing chemotherapy.

Emma was really ill and I know that she wouldn’t be here today without charities like Anthony Nolan as they provided life saving medication and the support Emma and her family needed to get through such a tough time. Anthony Nolan means everything to me – they do amazing work and save lives everyday, lives like my best friends.

Running a marathon has always been something that I want to achieve but I wanted it to mean more than just me. Running this marathon for Anthony Nolan means that the charity will be able to help more people like Emma.

My training is going really well and I’ve set myself challenges along the way. I’m planning on stepping up my training in January and February and hopefully getting in a good 20 mile run before race day.

So far, the support from Anthony Nolan has been incredible. They’ve spoken with me about my training and given me lots of fundraising tips. They even called me on my birthday to see how I was getting on and wish me a happy birthday! They are really accessible and the staff have become familiar names to me.

On the day of the marathon, I’m going to be feeling very nervous but I’ll also know that it’s an amazing achievement. Being able to give back to Anthony Nolan will make marathon day perfect – what a great way to thank them for saving my best friend.
