Most people are familiar with "sport climbing", but few people have actually tried it out and seen athletes compete in this sport. It is a physically and mentally challenging sport, and athletes that participate in it not only compete against other athletes but also against themselves. My brother and I started climbing from an early age, but as we hit our twenties, we realized that it was time to level up our commitment to the sport and start competing in local, national, and international competitions.
We have been fortunate to have the support of our family, friends, and sponsors/benefactors so far, but the journey to the top has not been smooth. Although my brother is ranked second for the men's category in the Philippine team, and I am ranked third for the women's category, it is a constant struggle for us to pull together the funds for training, travel, and competition expenses. We are currently joining as many international competitions as we can in order to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Competitions such as the Asian Cup and the Asian Championship, which are recognized and sanctioned by the IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing). The Philippine National Climbing Team, supported by SCAPI (the Sport Climbing Association of the Philippines), is also doing their part by engaging in fundraising drives. However, we still need your help.
The road that we have chosen is a difficult one, but we are proud to represent our country and show the world that Filipino athletes are able to compete with the best in the world. Please help us achieve our dream of winning that Olympic gold. Thank you for taking your time to read this. Thank you very much and God Bless! :)
