Fund my travel to the IFES World Assembly!

Who am I?

Hello!! I'm Lee De Velez, a first year currently taking BS Biochemistry in UP - Manila. After school on Fridays, I would attend small group meetings arranged by IVCF (Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship), wherein fellow students and I study the Bible and encourage each other in our walk as Christians. Oftentimes you'd see us in KFC Taft eating dinner after fellowship.

What is this fundraiser for?

My discipler back in high school, whom I call Ate Di, is from IVCF and she asked me one night if I would like to represent IVCF Philippines in the IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students) World Assembly in Africa. How exciting to travel to a distant continent!!! With my parent's support, I told her that I would love to.

The prospect of travel is only a third the excitement. From July 1-11, I will be meeting fellow university students from all around the world. Through the plenary talks and workshops, we will be taught the importance of bringing Christ to the university and be given the skills to engage scripture more deeply and reach out to both Christians and non-Christians. I just can't wait to learn from my fellow believers how God is moving in everyone's lives and to get closer to my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Money talk!

I was granted a very large scholarship amount by IFES, yet the registration and airfare still remain quite expensive for a university student. I would really appreciate the favor if you could help me raise the money to help me experience this awesome opportunity.

I intend to raise P38K to cover for the expenses. The table below shows what the money is for:

How will I give back?

I'm excited to see what God will unlock in my heart, whether it's renewed desired for Him, an urgency for His ministry or a passion for the people around me. Whatever God grants me, I intend to bring it back home and lay it on the table during our small group meetings for my fellow believers to witness. With the guidance of our small group leaders, I will help expand our reach by inviting classmates and friends into our group while simultaneously developing friendships inside the group. To respect my parents' wishes for me to focus on studying, I won't be able to establish IVCF inside UP-Manila but I will extend my aid in planning prayer walks, small-scale outreaches, and even sleepovers so that the family I have now will expand and open their doors even wider for everyone.
