Chinese shrimp crackers are one of the most popular snacks either on its own or as an appetizer before a meal. Eat it with your choice of sauce and it becomes another meal entirely.

However, the crackers are not always suitable for Muslims globally as they tend to be cooked not in accordance with Halal guidelines and are made with cheap low quality prawns.

I plan to address these 2 issues with the unique proposition of having them made in Brunei, a majority Muslim nation known for certifying almost every consumable item as Halal before allowing it to be sold commercially. You only need to google to find out that availability of non-halal items such as alcohol and cigarettes aren't available to know Brunei takes its Halal regulations seriously, much more than neighboring Malaysia or Indonesia.

Brunei is also one of only 2 countries that has successfully farmed Organic Blue Shrimp (Penaeus stylirostris), and the use of these blue shrimps in our crackers make for a tasty snack that is difficult to stop once you start.

The snacks will be sold in packets of 50g each, for immediate consumption out of the packet. The money will be used to fund the purchase of the raw materials for the crackers, as well as the marketing and logistics of the items to retail outlets and to overseas distributors.

The long term goal is to diversify into other flavoured snacks popular in this region (such as curry) and export them overseas, especially China, where the need for good quality food is high on the agenda and the spending powers are endless.

I have a desire to venture into this field of business, as I had previously worked for a company that had somewhat of a similar product, but had too many cooks that spoilt the broth. This has also provided me with a network of potential clients that are ready to purchase them.
