Transitional Justice in Education; help Milly get to the Geneva Academy, Switzerland

Hi everyone. Thanks for taking the time to click the links and read a bit about this. For those that have been asking and those that are interested in the details of this "campaign", here's my story.

I am currently registered for a Master of Adult Education at UKZN and am focusing on professional development for History teachers as a mechanism for transitional justice. Transitional justice is all about how we, as a post-conflict society move forward and heal after the atrocities of apartheid. A few days ago I received an invitation to attend the Spring School at the Geneva Academy for International Humanitarian Law & Human Rights from the 19th - 23rd March 2018. The Spring School is a short course on Transitional Justice, Memory and Culture that is part of their year long Masters program. It is a week-long course that delves into the roles representation, history and memory can play in transitioning societies. There are unfortunately no scholarships available through any funding bodies affiliated with the Academy or the University of Geneva. The total cost for the trip and the tuition will amount to +/- R50 000 / $4 200. Since receiving the email I have spent a significant amount of time investigating all potential funding options but have not been successful in securing support. While there are many organizations that do incredible work in this regard, few are able to sponsor short courses of this nature.

My hope, in light of this incredible opportunity, is for sponsorship to attend this course.This is an amazing opportunity for me to pursue a field of academia that is both personally fulfilling and vitally important in South Africa and our schools. Attending this course will allow me to gain further insight, experience, practical guidance and inspiration with regards to implementing sustainable and transformative educational interventions in our school system; a system that is currently not able to meet the needs of a traumatized society that needs restoration.
