My name is Merna Nader Sewilm, I am 23 years old and I am a 5th year Medical student at Mansoura University, Egypt. I have an invitation from Prof. Javier Gavilán Professor and Chairman of Department of Otorhinolaryngology at La Paz University Hospital in Madrid, Spain to spend one month in Next January 2020 in my vacation for an Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) medical training.
I need to pay for my plane ticket, visa and accommodation in order to get this prestigious medical training and that will cost at least 1000$. This year, I am really willing to go because this program will help me a lot in potentiating my medical skills since I am majoring in Medicine especially ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) domain.
My idea is to discover how to manage Facial paralysis patients medically, surgically and approach them psychologically. This opportunity will enable me to attend surgeries and outpatient clinic to get more experience in ENT in addition to Head and Neck dissection courses.
I am a very active girl and I love doing extracurricular activities. I believe that these programs help shape our personalities, enhancing our leadership skills and my medical skills.
I have participated in many medical programs in my country Egypt, such as: Scientific Research Scholarship Mansoura University in 2015, Boot Research Camp at Nile University in 2018, Basics of Scientific Research (21 hours of theoretical and practical lectures) on 7, 8, 9 February 2019 at the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, Cairo.
I have attended a lot of ENT (Otorhinolaryngology) conferences in Egypt and I became actually the youngest speaker at the Annual Mansoura International Conference of Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Mansoura University 14-15 February 2019. My talk was about ENT Emergencies.
The fact that I could not afford this opportunity didn't stop me to create a Crowd Funding account. I really count on people who are willing to fund a very motivated girl who will never give up on achieving her dreams in helping patients and making a change.
Every contribution means a lot to me.
