It's one of my life goals to be able to go to a french speaking country and apply the amount of french language and culture I've learned. It's so difficult to aquire fluidity in a language unless you've been surrounded by it for at least whole day.
I struggled through school after being diagnosed with Bipolar Mood Disorder, but I pushed through in hopes of keeping my grades high enough for the chance to get this experience. However, becuase I come from a white, middle-class household, most scholarships won't accept my applications to fund a study abroad program, even with my 3.7 college average
I've found a french program based in Grenoble, France that will give me the opportunity to spend 9 hours a day/5 days a week in a language lab where I can work with natives and other study abroad students. On the weekends, they provide "firld trips" to the surrounding areas so that I can interact with the culture and sightsee.
This is an experiece I could never put a pricetag on intellectually or sentimentally, but I can't fund it on my own. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated. If you donate, please send me your email and I will send you all the pictures I take on my return, so that you can re-live the experience with me.Thank you, Desiree, 19
