I am a founder and project manager for an award-winning community-based charity in Kenya . See photos here. Among other programs, we are involved in youth and women empowerment programs that strive to build leadership capacity for community leaders from humble backgrounds. Leadership development fellowships is what have shaped the leader I am today hence my inspiration to run micro leadership development programs in remote villages to help community leaders and youths who might find it hard to make it in international or national programs. I am a beneficiary of the Community Solutions Program which is a global leadership development program funded by the US Department of State and implemented by IREX. I am also an alumnus of Acumen East Africa Program. I am using the experience from the global and regional fellowships to reach out and raise other leaders especially those from very humble backgrounds and those with a low level of education, leaders especially from remote villages with little access of internet and information. Community actors who might find it hard to make it in more developed global, regional or national programs.
I am raising money to attend the Impact Fellowships Summit hosted by IREX, IFS is a forum for leaders and managers of fellowship programs. The summit facilitates learning, sharing, and networking to support leaders and drive positive change in communities. The 2019 Impact Fellowships Summit will be held on April 25 and 26 in Washington, DC. The theme will be Dynamic Leadership for a Changing World.
Attending the summit will help me connect with other people running leadership programs, learn of how to design impact-full programs, how to source for funds, help me grow from a rookie leadership coach to one better informed and create relationships that might help our organization while offering myself as a resource to others.
Thank you in-advance,
