West Coast Hiking Excursion

Hello! My name is Maggie. About two years ago I made a huge decision to leave an abusive marriage. With just a bag and my young child. This decision was by far one of the most pivotal moments of my life, following that I lost my job. Emotionally I was a wreck and in my state of hopelessness, I found a hobby that became a passion. Hiking! Being outside in the North Florida wilderness, surrounded by nature became my therapy, it was the time I had to break down and just let everything out, it was through hiking I got to push myself physically to new limits, and learn just how much I could persevere. It brought me back to a sense of self, and allowed me to find a more positive outlook, along with a healthy way to cope with stress. This strength has allowed me to continue to push harder, no matter how difficult it may be and not just for myself, but for my child.

April of 2017 I set out on a goal to do a week long hiking excursion out West. It would be my first time journeying to the West coast. But I felt like this was the journey I needed to really push myself, and to truly unfold. I set out to start in Portland, Oregon and venture westward till I reached the coast with just my bag and tent. But unfortunately, things don't always go the way you plan. The funds I allocated towards this trip had to be allocated towards an emergency. Which brings me to why I am here. This trip is more than just a vacation to me and I still intend with every fiber of my being to do this journey.

My campaign goal of $1,000 is to pay for the following:

Plane ticket

Food allowance

Supplies i.e. bear spray, hiking boots, suitable hiking pack
