Fund for Mom

I am helping my cousin to raise fund for her mom (my auntie)

Life sometimes hits you with things you could have never even imagined.

This has been one of the most challenging situations our family has to go through.

My mother, Maria Lourdes Ravina, 73, is a very energetic, giving, selfless, tender hearted and caring woman. She was an Overseas Filipino Worker for many years. Nanay Lulu, as she is fondly called, sacrificed to work away from her loved ones to be able to support financially and give us an education so we’d have a better chance at life. She has also helped not only her family but even friends as well in need of assistance. Nanay Lulu never closed doors on anyone that is why she is so loved. Even as she retired, she never stopped finding ways to augment her family’s needs through a typical front yard “Sari-Sari” store and buy & sell of almost any merchandise she can have her hands on. Even during this pandemic, she never stops to send little tokens of care and thoughts through her cooking. Nanay Lulu, loves to cook and bake. She sends love through her goodies to relatives and friends.

On March 22, Nanay Lulu fell ill and was taken to a hospital. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and was Covid-19 free when tested. Because of the rising cases of Covid-19, Nanay Lulu was referred to a private hospital to get emergency care. Upon admission, she was then immediately prepped to be transferred to an ICU because her oxygen level was plummeting dangerously low. Her doctors were very concerned because now she was categorized under Critical Pneumonia needing much more than just ICU care. Her lungs are collapsing and her kidneys are working doubly hard to excrete the high and strong doses of anti-biotics. Nanay Lulu needs to have medicines to be administered immediately, a medicine worth $3,500 and a procedure called Hemoperfusion with Hemodialysis for $12,000. These are her immediate medical needs excluding the ongoing ICU care and professional fees. Her running bill as of yesterday was $13,000.

We know many families are in need right now and are also suffering because of this pandemic that set us all off course. Nanay Lulu and my family have also helped in ways that we can. Now, we are knocking upon your hearts and reaching out to anyone and everyone to please help us in this fight to allow us to fund the medical needs of Nanay Lulu.
