Hi,My name is Amirah. I'm a student in a University in Malaysia. Now, I am in my final year as an undergarduate in Biotechnology. My final year project is about DNA Barcoding of Marine Fishes in Malaysia. What is DNA barcoding? DNA barcoding is is a taxonomic method that uses a short genetic marker in an organism's DNA to identify it as belonging to a particular species. It is like the way a supermarket scanner distinguishes products using the black stripes of the Universal Product Code. Two items may look very similar to the untrained eye, but in both cases the barcodes are distinct. As a consequence, it will make the Linnaean taxonomic system more accessible, with benefits to ecologists, conservationists, and the diversity of agencies charged with the control of pests, invasive species, and food safety. More broadly, DNA barcoding allows a day to be envisioned when every curious mind, from professional biologists to schoolchildren, will have easy access to the names and biological attributes of any species on the planet. This project involve a lot of money for the chemicals used to amplify or clone the DNA which is used in the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) process. Due to the shortage amount of money to buy the chemical needed, we had a diffulty to finish this project. Thus, I would like to raise a fund for my project. Please help this young scientist to take a small step for a greater future. Help me to complete my final year project and graduated as a Biotechnologist.Thank you.
