Fund for Baby Jianna Felicity with Jejunal Atresia

Update posted by JB Santos On Apr 03, 2019

As of April 2, 2019 (92 days in NICU and 64th day since the 2nd surgery), our little warrior is currently stable with normal heart rate and respiration.

It’s the 31st day since she was administered with the anti fungal medicine (Amphotericin B ) and 12th day since she was administered with antibiotic. As of today, 120 hours since the blood test was conducted, our little warrior is still negative from the fungal growth. Hoping and praying that she will continue to be found negative from any fungal or bacterial growth.

Her poop texture is yellow and semiformed. She is doing good with bottle feeding with 45ml of breastmilk every 2 hours with a mixture of the HMF. The NGT is still being used. But whenever our little warrior have enough energy, she can consume the 45ml within 15minutes via bottle feeding. And it is most common to happen during the day. Unlike in the evening, majority of her feedings are running thru NGT which help her to conserve a lot of energy.

She lost 15 grams compared to Yesterday. Her weight is currently at 2035 grams. Although, according to the doctor that this is not alarming. But we are hoping that’s she’ll be able to tolerate her feeding and be able to attain consistency with gaining weight.

Thank you to all of you who are hoping, supporting and praying for our little warrior. Please pray that she may be found negative from any bacterial or fungal growth in her blood cultures and be cleared from any health issues, that her liver, kidney and heart will recover soon, and that she will be cleared for discharge in the near future.

Thank you very much and God bless.

As of today January 11, 2019 (8th day since the surgery), our little fighter have some of the good and bad news for us. This is really a roller coaster ride for us and it seems that we cannot rely on the day to day assessment.

The doctor ordered to ingest 1 ml of breast milk every 4 hours to our little warrior. This is the good news. No green biles were found in her drain which means there are movements inside the intestine and hoping that it will continually improved.

On the other side, our baby’s antibiotic is not responding well which leads to rise in the heart rate and difficulty in releasing CO2. The last resort that our pedia did is to intubate her. We asked other options to avoid the invasive ventilation but the nasal prongs is not helping our little warrior’s condition.

Our heart wreaks and really cannot understand why we can’t get the whole recovery to be less difficult.

The picture below is her picture this afternoon. She already had fast heart rate at that time. Please continue praying for her. She’s a very precious warrior.

As of today January 9, 2019 (6th day since the surgery). Baby Jianna got infections but fortunately she got no fever. Inevitably antibiotics level will be increased. In addition her oxygen level decreased due to the weakened immune system. It’s like a roller coaster. Nothing is sure in our situation. The longer baby Jianna stays in the hospital the higher the risk of getting germs. This is part of the recovery process. Our hearts almost melt down finding out these news from the OIC pedia doctor (our pedia doctor is currently on leave until today)

But as soon as Jam went inside to visit baby Jianna, the resident doctor give her some good news. Despite that baby Jianna is supported partly with oxygen, she unleashed her biggest poop since the surgery. It somehow relieves us. But a realization hit us hard. That these developments are already part of the second life of our child. Needless to say that the doctors are doing their best and we can only hope for our baby’s recovery and to function normally. Everyday we ask for everyone’s help to pray with us. Because life isn’t just a thing that we can earn from working hard. (The case of our child is Jejunal Atresia wherein fetuses have a chance of getting it is 1/10,000)

Ultimately, only an intercession from Mama Mary to Lord God can really define the outcome of baby Jianna. We humbly ask you to continue praying for baby Jianna’s full recovery. We are willing to sacrifice everything for our little girl.

Our baby is currently stable. There is no need for the UV light at this time. Greenish liquid found in her diaper. The doctor said that this is already a form of “poop”. It is a good sign for her digestive system. We are hoping that it will continue to work and cleared for normal feeding.

Our prayers are being heard. And we thank you for all your support. Please continue to pray for our baby.

Everyday, our hospital bill are continuously increasing and your financial assistance of any amount will make a big difference for baby Jianna Felicity. Thank you very much and God bless.
