HELP A Public SPED (Special Education) Center

The SpEd center in Marcelo H. Del Pilar Memorial School started in 2013. This public SpEd center was developed to cater to the education needs of gifted children and those with learning disabilities, especially those who are financially unstable. Originating from 18 children or students with special needs, this 2017 the student's population has now reached 100. Initially, we only had one teacher assisting the kids but last 2016, two additional teachers were employed to provide a better education to our growing community.

The SpEd center merely depends on public fund allocations and donations from local groups and private individuals. Our SpEd building was funded by Mr. Ding Wenceslao and his family last October 2015. Then in 2016, the SpEd Parents & Teachers Association (PTA) joined hand-in-hand to build a kitchen area for the students. As part of the skills development program, the teachers aims to develop the children to be more independent and responsible with simple household activities. The SpEd center also have a "Transition Program" that develops the skills of the adult students and prepare them in possible job opportunities; and income-generating programs which enables them to conduct activities at home and earn money for a living.

Our students have various cases including, intellectually disability, hearing impairment, blindness, ADHD, autism, down syndrome and more. This school year, the school library has been assigned to the SpEd program because we are constantly growing but the room requires more renovation to be properly equipped. We need your love, support and encouragement to this children with specials needs. You can provide them a better and well-organized learning facility.
