Fund a Farm

Who:

Dad, mom, 5 kids and a goldendoonle, charlie. Mom is a homemaker in every way. Dad is a finance guy and not only keeps the numbers straight, he can fix anything! The kids are awsome- full of energy, sweet and smart! Find out more about up on our blog: www.head-ofthe-herd.com

What:

An organic farm/ranch which will serve as a center for teaching self-reliance. We will have crops (exactly what will depend on the soil tests, we are hoping for veggies, an orchard and herbs) and livestock- likely cow and alpaca. We will also have free range chickens and BEES- they are so vital. Honey, raw comb, wax and for pollination for us ad other farmers!

I plan to hold classes covering many topics right on site in addition to seasonal "do it your self" harvesting.

The land is 52 acres, half is cleared and half is forrest. It includes a house, guest house, water access, a large (red!) barn and 3 fenced in pastures.

When:

As soon as the funds are raised! We found the PERFECT land! Now we just need the funding.

Why:

Well... to keep it simple, we want to teach! Be it teaching nutrition, how carrots grow or how to care for a horse- it can be done on our land. Want to know how to can your own fruit or a lesson on how to cook your favorite meal in a healthier way- that will be done in the house! Our goal is to help people to be as self reliant as possible and with that comes security, good health and confidance!

We will teach individuals, families, or groups (children AND adults) with a hands-on approach, supplying the materials and goods to take home. We will also serve as a refrence point/mentor for the community and people we teach, to help them in their process!

How:

That is where YOU come in! We are hard working and eager. We have great credit and work records but the loan world is less than favoriable these days. We had nearly given up on our American Dream until a friend turned me on to this site! I am hopeful that it is the saving grace that will enable us to put our plan in action!
