My name is Vuyo, and in the Winter semester, I will be studying abroad in Idaho, USA at Brigham Young University!
The opportunity to study in America is a dream come true for me. Ever since I was a young girl, I always dreamt of being able to explore the world, of being able to be part of a college that shares my beliefs and values. I have been hoping for an opportunity such as this but with the economic conditions in South Africa it seemed like such a far-fetched idea, so out there, that it's still a little surreal to me even after being accepted into BYUI, that I finally have the opportunity to study my desired degree and my desired college. Surreal!
I have been able to pay for the pre-college expenses such as application fees, and travel items (suitcases, climate appropriate clothes, etc.) and other initial costs (which amounted to roughly $3000) by family assistance, working and selling valuables to raise the funds. I have also been blessed to receive an amazing scholarship for my first year of studies - another tender mercy which I am so deeply grateful for.
I am mainly asking for assistance in raising $2, 500 for my plane ticket and to pay for my visa fees. Please help me in any way you can, whether it is donating or spreading this campaign around.
I will conclude this campaign at the beginning of September 2019 (to have enough time for visa application process) and will be flying off to college in January 2020.
Your generous donation, however small or large it might be, will change the course of my life, help me achieve my dream and help break the cycle of poverty. Thank you for your donation!
Full of love and gratitude,
