I’m writing to you from Argentina.
I have been a Christian since I was very young. I firmly believe following our Father’s teachings and seeking a close relationship with Him is the best way to spend my days here (though meeting him after will be even better).
Throughout all of my life I have been engaged in my church, whether it is by helping in worship, or participating in plays and reaching out, or even crafting stuff for said activities. In the same way, I tried to live my life with the Lord outside of His house, too. Because of that, I always strive to show my peers what it’s like to be His son, both in example and in speech, and not shy away from opportunities to talk about Him.
I had the chance to attend a great public school, Gymnasium de la U.N.T., and I graduated last year. The sole idea of studying abroad was like a dream to me, but I decided to trust God and take my shots. During my last year of high school, I split my time between studying and working to save money for this project.
This year, I was blessed with the incredible opportunity to apply for Trevecca Nazarene University. Since I was a kid I've wanted to help people, but I wasn’t sure in what field I could do it best. My first choice was Human Health, and this is what I think God expects from me, so I’ve decided to pursue a Biology Degree.
For that goal, I find it difficult to find a better university than Trevecca. I am sure its strong Christian grassroot and focus on servant leadership will help me achieve this. Such a mixture of Christian values and academic resources it’s not something I can hope to find here at local universities. Besides, I am sure its cancer research projects will prove to be of great value for my goals. As part of my application to college, I used part of the money I had saved to pay for a TOEFL test and a translation of my high school transcript. I am happy to say that, although I didn’t attend neither a bilingual school nor an English academy, I was able to score 108 (out of 120) in the TOEFL test. In the same way, my high school transcript translation resulted in a 3.65 (out of 4) GPA.
Thanks to those results and God’s blessing, not only was I accepted at Trevecca, I was even granted a summary of scholarships that amounted to US$24,500 for my annual tuition fee! That means I only have to pay the remaining US$12,348. However, as I live in Argentina, and though I have worked and saved money of this, and also have my parents’ support, gathering this amount of money is quite a big challenge for me. Here, the average annual income is under US$5,000. Still, after reaching this point and praying, my family and I agree that we do not feel this is the end of the road. We’re also on the lookout for people who have the means and are willing to help me in whatever way they can.
I am Matias Hagop Bedoian, I'm 18-year-old and I would be incredibly grateful to receive your support, both economically and in prayer for me.
