Frikkie Tumor Operation

For everyone that knows Frikkie personally, he would just like to thank you all for your continues support and prayer.

What a rollercoaster the last 2 months has been. Not knowing what the future had in store for us has been quite stressful.

For those that are still not aware in the beginning of July Frikkie went to visit an oral and dental surgeon due to the pain he started experiencing.

The Dr was concerned about a mass that he was seeing during this consultation the Dr made the decision to do further investigation, after the scans and biopsy had been ordered the dreaded weight started.

The biopsy was scheduled a week after the scan, but before we reach the weekend Frikkie was in extreme pain and had to go to hospital for pain control. Without real answer the hospital stay added more concern during this stressful time.

We joined the medical aid in November 2021, and it was at least going to cover cost and relived us from some financial stress, but reality knocked us off our feet.

5 Days in hospital this time Frikkie was struggling to eat as his jaw was constricted and in enormous pain,

the biopsy followed that night under anesthesia due to Frikkie having too much pain to do it generally.

The next day he was released from hospital and our week wait started, during this waiting period your mind races , you started making plans accordingly to all your what if. The fear it awakens in yourself and your children, that you might be losing the person you love so dearly .

By the Grace of God and a lot of prayer the biopsy came back clear of cancer.

Next day we get a call from the medical aid stating they have canceled our membership due to not informing them that in month of October 2021 Frikkie had dental work done.

We started the appeal, but the process will take months and you have no guarantee how successful the outcome will be. But with no medical aid and continuous bill pilling up the financial stress was added in an instant.

CTI scan booked so we can start getting some answers, the scan done and we returned home knowing our Dr taking leave and our wait continues.

Frikkie extreme pain continued and he can still barely eat and due to this his weight loss became a huge concern.

The Dr returned from leave booking our next appointment on the 28 July 2022.

His prognosis is a tumor but , it is not malignant that , we are grateful for but what came next was a shock

Dr informed us that he wants to operate in 3 weeks, we asked what the longest waiting period would be before preforming this operation, max 6/8 weeks after this the risk that the Tumor will extend and grow into his lower brain increase.

So, it is a major surgery he will needs reconstructive surgery with a prosthetics to rebuild his upper jaw and all his top teeth will needs to be replace with dentures. They need to cut open the bottom jaw to perform the operation and a cut insertion into the neck and face.

This tumor can turn into an malignant tumor if left (cancer) and then they can do noting for him so ,this is a race against time.

The tumor is large and growing at an alarming pace, with no medical aid we need to get enough funding in time to be able to go ahead with the surgery

Our current cost is R400 000 for the surgery, this excludes all the scans, appointments, hospital stay and traveling we are paying out of our pockets at this stage .
