Dear Friends,

Many of us have learned to know Glynn Peacock at Champagne Sports Resort; either as friends, through Time-Share, conferences, weddings, golfing groups or during weekend breaks and holidays.

Glynn is the Food and Beverage Manager and assistant to Philip West. His ability to provide the vast range of delicious and beautifully presented menus, catering for every need, is always the subject of great appreciation and compliments. The ongoing quality and standard of the catering, supported by the excellent, friendly service rendered by his staff is a tribute to Glynn’s endeavours to provide only the best for everyone at all times.

The best is never good enough for Glynn. His willingness to assist and advise those organising a variety of functions contributes much to ensure the success of the occasion whilst his friendly manner and subtle sense of humour is a hallmark recognised by all who come in to contact with this special person.

For many months Glynn’s health has deteriorated but despite his pain and suffering he struggled on without complaining or allowing any form of compromise to influence the high level of service he is known for.

Many consultations with specialists and doctors and a barrage of tests and examinations in and out of hospital came to nought whilst his condition continued to deteriorate. Medical bills were already in excess of R65,000 over and above his previous expenditure which totally depleted any funds at his disposal. Glynn does unfortunately not have any medical aid or insurance.

His rapidly deteriorating state of health got to the stage where those around him were starting to fear for the worst. Unfortunately another round of specialist consultations and tests finally revealed that Glynn was in grave danger due to severe circulatory problems with his toes starting to turn purple whilst the pain in his legs and swelling of feet and ankles worsened. The danger of gangerine and the possible need for amptutations had become a sudden reality.

The condition of his heart and vascular blocking was at long last diagnosed with emergency surgery immediately required. Glynn was admitted on Sunday 10 July to Hillcrest Private Hospital where a quadruple bypass had to be performed. His prognosis for recovery to date has been slow, painful and difficult and it will take some time before there will be any degree of certainty concerning his recovery. This in turn necessitated a period of two weeks in the ICU at great cost. He is now in the High Care Unit but requiring additional scans. In future many additional medical interventions will be necessitated which will continue to add greatly to the cost. To date medical and hospital costs are in excess of R460,000. His employers have generously and willingly helped to ease some of the costs without which the lifesaving surgery and hospitalisation would not have been possible.

Apart from his financial resources being totally depleted he still has the responsibility of supporting his daughter Michelle who is totally deaf and his beautiful seven year old granddaughter Gianna.

As caring and concerned friends we ask you to rally around Glynn, rise to the occasion and make a contribution individually or through your organisation to:

Our best estimate is that we need to raise the amount of R500,000 to offset current and future expenses and to reimburse a percentage of the expenditure to those who made consultations, surgery and hospitalisation possible through their initial funding.

Should any funds in excess of the medical costs remain then the amount will be used to assist with Glynn’s costs to support his daughter and granddaughter.

Kindly forward this email to any friends or family who have been to Champagne Sports and could be able to contribute.

Thank-you for the understanding and generosity.
