friction home heating system

Pitch

     My name is joe desmarais. About 5 years ago I started to search online for ways to save money on heat, gas, and electric. About 3 years ago I started to realize that every one was trying to invent something all together new, but I think the best thing to do is to reinvent the old to something new using technology we already have. Well I started thinking outside the box and came up with 2 things; this one utilizes the old home heating system but replaces the older and less efficient way to heat the system by getting rid of the heating fuel, such as heating oil, kerosene, and propane. This heating system uses a 1 to 2 horse power electric motor to spin ½ inch thick disks about 11 inches in diameter at about 8000 revolutions per minute in its own tight space with only 1/32 of an inch of space on each side of each disk, with 40 disks, 20 per side. Motor oil is pushed through them one at a time at 30 pound per square inch producing heat through friction. Why oil, well oil stays hotter for a longer period of time and it keep everything lubricated. Think of the oil in a car engine, it gets pushed into very small spaces like the bearings to lubricate and through friction the oil gets extremely hot. This system uses that basic principle but on a slightly larger scale in the form of surface being lubricated that’s what the disks are for. Each side of each disk has a lot of surface space to be lubricated its byproduct is heat. In theory it would produce a lot of heat in a short period of time.  

Impact

         85% of all homes use fossil fuels for heat in the form of heating oil, kerosene, or propane. If all those homes stopped using fossil fuels just imagine how much the demand would go down, if the demand goes down the price of everything will go down because everything we buy gets transported by something that uses fossil fuels, tractor trailers, trains, cargo plains and ships. About 4 years ago I heard on the radio that the experts said that by 2050 the price of gas will be about 5 to 7 dollars a gallon, if that’s true then the price of heating oil will be 7 to 10 dollars a gallon. Now the average home goes through 3 to 4 tanks of heating oil a season, about 5 months now let’s keep going. At 7 to 10 dollars a gallon a 250 gallon tank will be $1,700.00 to $2,500.00 and at 3 to 4 tanks it would be $5,200.00 to $10,000.00 in 5 months. Now that’s CRAZY, now at the rate things have been going I believe that it will happen in half that time.

All the specs are in my head and I know that it is easier to see what’s going on to understand it, so if I can get the 3D model made I can guarantee that you will be impressed and it will help me in stage 2 witch will be fine tuning and testing the prototype.
