Hi,

My name is Paula. I have been living with type 1 diabetes for 15 years. This means for the past 15 years, I have had to take a minimum of 4 insulin injections per day (and probably for the rest of my days). No biggy. But, what I really still whine about is having to prick my fingers numerous times a day to check my blood sugar levels.

However, my friends, there is a solution! A new invention! The LifeStyle Libre Sensor is new to South Africa and this nifty device allows me to check my sugar as many times as my heart / doctor desires - without having to stab my pretty fingers for a drop of sweet blood! I have had the opportunity to test out this device once for 2 weeks. Those two weeks were life changing. I could swipe my reader over the sensor which was attached to the back of my upper arm. One swipe and I would instantly get a result. The reader also tells me whether my blood sugar is stable, increasing or decreasing. This gives me the chance to treat it before I even experience any symptoms of a high or low. Life changing.

I would really like to experience this again. But, as it is new to SA, and not covered by medical aid, it is rather costly. I would greatly appreciate any small donation for two sensors which each lasts for two weeks. My pretty fingers need a break from sharp objects :)

Thank you.

Paula
